Covid-19 update: As of March 27th, 2020
As we continue to respond to Covid-19, we at Ship’s are postponing the season launch for 2020. This new moment in time is ever fluctuating and this delay is sadly necessary within a constantly changing crisis. But know that we will keep you in the loop!
Right now it is important that we focus on the safety and health of everyone and continue to be responsible citizens. While it is integral we are social distancing and isolating, it is important we stay connected. Please continue to be there for each other and have community within this physically distanced world. We hope you are calling/texting/facetiming/zooming with your family and friends. We hope you are mastering the art of baking. We hope you are taking advantage of the quiet.
Ship’s Company will be here. Waiting for when the coast is clear. And we’ll be VERY excited to get people into a room together! We have so many great things in the works and we look forward to a time in the near future where we can share all of these exciting artists and projects with you!
For artists who have been affected by Covid-19 through cancellations of gigs they had booked, there are many resources to help you in this time of financial need. See here for a list of resources, including government funding, community funding and financial aid options.
On this day of March 27, which is recognized as World Theatre Day, you may want to consider becoming a member of Ship’s Company Theatre Society. We are so thankful to the people who have already become members of Ship’s and generously offered donations this year and know that our personal thank you’s and charitable tax receipts are soon on the way! Covid-19 update: As of March 16th, 2020
The health and wellness of our patrons, our cast, and our crew is our highest priority – and as such we are cancelling our in-person 2020 season launch event.
Our season will still be announced on March 28th – and new details will follow shortly, as we move towards a digital launch. Please make sure to follow the Ship’s Company Theatre Society on Facebook for the season reveal.
If you have already purchased your tickets for the in-person season launch event, please reach out to The Ship at 1-902-254-2003 or at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a full refund.
As of this moment we are moving forward optimistically with our planned season and it remains unchanged. Additionally, we will be taking all necessary steps to safeguard the health of every person coming aboard this summer – and we will keep you informed both as this situation develops, and of any changes to our schedule that arise. We will continue to monitor and follow directives and advice from the province.
Our community holds many vulnerable or at-risk individuals, and relies significantly on a successful tourist season each year. Covid-19 may not only have a significant impact on our small, rural, not-for-profit theatre but on our entire community. If you are in a position to do so, we ask for your support not only of us, but of other businesses, spaces, and community support organisations within our area. Information on how to support some of these organisations can be found below.
We are part of a strong community and we can navigate through this together by being thoughtful of all in our everyday actions and taking care of each other through these potentially difficult times. Stay safe, and thank you for your support.
