Crypthand

by Lily Falk
in association with Gale Force Theatre

Crypthand imagines the early life of Anne Lister, a 19th-century diarist, businesswoman and queer icon. Originally produced by Gale Force Theatre, this theatrical comedy tells the story of Anne’s first relationship with her school roommate Eliza Raine and the lengths they go to keep their love secret. In their attic bedroom, they invent a unique code that allows them to express their affections without being found out, but what happens when the code is discovered?

Crypthand played to sold-out audiences at the Bus Stop Theatre in Halifax last fall with standing ovations every night. I am thrilled to bring this show to Ship’s Company and tell this hilarious and beautiful queer story. If you’re a fan of the HBO show Gentleman Jack, this will be right up your alley!” – Laura Vingoe-Cram, AD
