Downed Hearts
by Catherine Banks
with Eastern Front Theatre and in association with Matchstick Theatre Theatre
Inspired by the Swiss Air 111 disaster that struck off the coast of Peggy’s Cove in 1998, Downed Hearts tells the story of a small island community attempting to cope in the aftermath of tragedy. The play follows Aaron, a young fisherman trying to make sense of what’s happened and what he’s seen as he searches for survivors in the wreckage. One day while out on the water, he finds Belle.
“This year is the 25th anniversary of the Swiss Air 111 disaster. I am so grateful that Ship’s Company, Eastern Front Theatre and Matchstick Theatre are collaborating on this momentous world premiere about hope and healing by the two-time Governor General award-winning playwright Catherine Banks.” – Laura Vingoe-Cram, AD.
