Apprentice Stage Manager
Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro and Eastern Front Theatre in Dartmouth are producing the world premiere of Frenchy’s: The Thrift Musical, and are seeking a full time Apprentice Stage Manager.
Working under the direction of the Stage Manager, the Apprentice Stage Manager’s primary responsibilities include:
- Organizing set and props during rehearsals and performances
- Attending production meetings
- Managing backstage crew during technical rehearsals and performances
- Managing and assisting actors backstage during rehearsals, technical rehearsals and performances.
- Ensuring smooth execution of performances from backstage
- Assist in sourcing rehearsal props
- Assist the Stage Manager with running rehearsals
- Various clerical tasks such as printing scripts and paper organization
- Other tasks as required
The ideal candidate will have completed 2-3 credits, be able to read music, and have prior experience working on a musical.
Schedule
- June 8 – 14, 2026 – Stage Management Prep Week (Dartmouth, NS)
- June 15 – July 5, 2026 – Rehearsals (first week in Dartmouth, then move to Parrsboro, NS)
- July 6 – July 27, 2026 – Tech/Previews/Performances (Parrsboro, NS)
- July 28 – October 11, 2026 – (Unpaid hiatus – concession request approved)
- Oct 12 – Oct 15 2026 – Rehearsals/Tech (Dartmouth, NS)
- Oct 16 – Nov 2nd, 2026 – Previews/Performances (Dartmouth, NS)
Fee: $900/wk
Travel and Accommodations
Ship’s will provide travel to and from Parrsboro, NS, as required, and provide options for affordable accommodations while in Parrsboro.
